Our belief is that what leads to the greatest longevity
of music as a fulfilling part of life is achieved when a connection
with music is made as a utility for
personal expression. We want you to be playing music
for the rest of your life, and so we focus on 100%
original music as the means to study and develop the
skills required to construct it, and to communicate it to your instruments,
your bandmates, and the world.
We believe that nothing in the world is as motivating or enjoyable
as having a group of people support you and manifest their desire
to execute your ideas (as in your own bandmates working on a song
you've written), and we believe that this unique motivation leads
directly to the MOST efficient music
study possible.
Our classes (publicly manifested as bands) utilize all the struggles
and obstacles of the small band dynamic to study ALL
FORMS of technique,
tradition, notation,
and theory in depth
that is required for musical fluency,
as well as the finer elements of psychology,
responsibility, interpersonal
relation, teamwork
and identity that are
involved in any artistic group endeavor.
Efficiency in learning
is our main goal, and boredom and anxiety are our worst enemies, so
we do our best to keep our classes age, skill and personality appropriate!
